What it Means to Live a Godly Life

While there are a lot of things people might think are required to be a ‘good Christian,’ living a Godly life can actually be a lot less complicated than some people might make it out to be. The good news is everything you need to know about living a Godly life has been provided to us through His word. The bible can be your own personal handbook. Here are five ways to help show you how to live a Godly life, straight from the word itself.

Romans 12:1-2

This scripture is telling us not to be conformed to this world but to be transformed by the renewal of our minds. This scripture is basically telling us that the ways of the world don’t always conform to the ways of God. Through keeping a clear head and filtering everything through the word and what is acceptable in God’s eyes, you’ll be able to better test and understand what parts of your daily life do not align with a Godly life.

Timothy 2:15-16

This verse basically tells you to avoid godless chatter. The more you’re exposed to something, the more acceptable and the more normal it starts to become. Don’t let ungodly thoughts become the norm.

John 5:23

This verse is pretty straightforward. It simply says to honor the Son or Jesus, and we do this by trying to do as he would do. While we’re not perfect, and we will stumble, it is the consistent effort that counts and we praise God for his grace that he gives to a sincere heart.

1Peter 1:14-19

This verse is somewhat similar to Timothy 2:15-16, except it is talking about our actions. Being accepted by Christ and being born again, we should already be aware of the godless behavior and actions that go against living a Godly life. We should actively avoid falling back into these kinds of behaviors, and though we might stumble, keep a consistent effort towards avoiding these behaviors.

Deuteronomy 12:23

This last verse is actually very important. A lot of people try to live a Godly life selectively. On the flip side, some churches tend to add more than is necessary to that list as well, like tithing a certain amount to the church or attending a certain number of church services. Everything you need to know is in the bible. If it’s not in the bible, odds are it isn’t part of living a Godly life.
